THE PROPOSAL

Day 1: It was 3 o'clock in the morning and Sendi was helping me take my mother to the Airport (or so she thought). She packed our lunches for the day and even helped us load my "mothers" luggage into the car. As we set on course for the Airport we spoke of dinner plans that night and weekend tasks. Light chat to help distract me from the anxiety attack I was about to have. As we arrived to the Terminal, reality kicked in. Months of planning and lying were finally coming to fruition. We arrive, she gets out of the car and helps us unload the luggage. I couldn't keep it in any longer, "Honey, my mother isn't going anywhere... It's actually you and I. We are going on vacation for our Anniversary!"I exclaimed (another lie). Her astonished face said it all. "But, where are we going?! What about work?! Does my mom know?! I don't have clothes! OMG, I don't even have my passport!", she screamed. It was just the way I had pictured it would happen, to the shade of blush which overwhelms her freckles when she is embarrassed to the gleam of red brake lights glistening in her teary eyes. Calmly, I explain to her that the luggage were full of new clothes, her boss, co-workers and parents were in on it and her passport along with her her prized makeup bag (god forbid I forget it) were packed.

This is where my preparations ended... I didn't know when or how I would propose. All I knew is that I was going to kidnap her and take her on a vacation. I left it in the hands of the universe for the right time to appear.

Day 3: The first two days were surreal. Swimming with Dolphins, fishing off the coast of the Grand Bahamas (she will say she caught more fish, but everyone knows It's quality > quantity) and dancing to the sounds of the waves crashing into the shore under the moonlight. That morning we grabbed our pillows and ran to see the sunrise off the coast. We cuddled as the morning dew cleared way for the sun and even though we didn't say a word, I had planned the rest of our lives that morning. You see, I knew I was going to propose that day. I still didn't know how or when, but everything around me told me I would. I woke up that morning to find everything different. You hear of people waking up to a more vibrant world after a life altering event and for some reason when I woke up that morning, I could appreciate the smallest grain of sand marking it's place in the universe. So when we made new friends over breakfast that morning and they invited us to an island wide bonfire that night, I knew the universe had set-up our perfect moment...
